Why Rethinking the Core & Pelvic Floor

For years we’ve been spot treating the core with focused core exercises or repeated pelvic floor exercises, but the paradigm is shifting and we are moving from looking at the body as being made up of separate parts to looking at the body as a whole.

I’ve been training postnatal yoga teachers for years in how to support ladies experiencing core and pelvic floor issues as part of their postnatal training, but super I’m super excited to expand my offerings to health care professionals, movement teachers from different fields in this full day immersion workshop: Rethinking the Core and Pelvic floor.

About Rethinkng the Core & Pelvic Floor

In this workshop we will work through a range of movement-based practices to help clients/students improve their core strength and function.

We’ll be busting some core myths, looking at common pathologies such as diastasis recti, prolapse, incontinence, and pelvic pain and explore movements that are supportive for anyone experiencing these issues.

By the end of the day you will……..

Understand what whole body approach to core rehab means and why targeted core exercises and repeated kegels many not be the answer.

Have a clear understanding of common core pathologies and how to support clients who have them.

Be able to recognise common core engagement cheats.

Have a range of tools for teaching your students deep core engagement, not just abdominal engagement.

Have an understand of the anatomy of the core and pelvis from a bio-tensegrity and myofascial perspective.

Know how breathing can help or hinder core health, give you tools to help how support your clients/ students to re-pattern their breath.

Know what signs to look out for with clients who may have a hypertonic pelvic floor and understand why isolated pelvic floor exercises may be doing more harm than good. Know how to incorporate full body exercises into practice to build core strength, integrity and function. Safely and confidently modify a movement class for client who have core or pelvic floor issues.

Understand how analising clients/posture and gait can help inform the way you might work with a clinet or student to improve core function.

About Your Tutor

I’m yoga teacher and a certified RYC™ teacher and is was my experience of having diastasis recti after both of my pregnancies that lead me into this work. It became clear to me that a classical yoga practice wasn’t enough to help me recover so I stepped out of the yoga world to learn more.

I took courses with well-respected leaders in the field such as women’s health physios Dianne Lee and I tried many core recovery programs. I finally discovered the Restore Your Core program and it not only took my recovery to the next level, but empowered me with knowledge of how to move in a way that would be supportive to my body for the rest of my life.  I am passionate about spreading this work to as many ladies as I can.

I’d love to hear from you if you have any questions regarding my classes and workshops. Simply fill out the form and I’ll be in touch as soon as possible.

Thanks
